Inside Adalo

Empower Makers To
Bring Their Ideas To Life.

To truly understand what Adalo’s all about, it’s important to know (how we view) the difference between a purpose and a mission. For us, a mission is something that has a start and an end. It’s something quantifiable that can be achieved. For example, we would like to be the #1 platform for X by Y date. On the other hand, a purpose is something that you live and breathe. It’s an ideal that you continually strive for but can never achieve.

While this may seem like a small semantic difference, it has profound effects. It’s been proven that organizations that focus on purpose over mission are less likely to be disrupted as they continually evolve, attract more talented individuals with growth mindsets, and produce far better work. So for us, our purpose has implications on everything else we do. From our principles, to the people on our team, to our practices, and even our personality.

With this added perspective in mind, when you hear our purpose — to empower makers to bring their ideas to life — hopefully you’ll start to see us as more than just a no-code tech platform. We have big aspirations of helping makers at every stage of their journey bring their ideas to life. Speaking of which...

The skill of coding prevents billions of people from bringing their ideas to life. (In fact only 0.3% of people can code today.) We believe this needs to change. We believe anyone should be able to create an app regardless of their technical expertise. Because a world where only 1% of people can solve problems is a world missing 99% of its potential.

Our 5 Principles

Serious decisions are always made in the context of the principles you hold. If purpose is the north star of an organization, then principles are the map, showing which path to take in order to get where you want to go.

#1 COMMUNITY

We empower & engage with our community of makers.

We are committed to doing what’s right for our makers. We value their ideas, their feedback, their experiences, and their work.  We believe every person should have the opportunity to make powerful apps, no matter their technical expertise & in our community we will do what we can to provide a platform that turns ideas into reality.

#2 TRUST

We tell the truth & act with integrity.

We trust each other & believe each of us is doing the best we can to fulfill Adalo’s purpose of empowering makers. Because of that trust, we are transparent & honest about our company. We give honest feedback to our co-workers & colleagues. We are candid, but not harsh. We know what is expected of us & we follow through on our words with actions.

#3 INCLUSION

We encourage & celebrate our differences.

We are better together & each difference we bring to the company helps to shape Adalo into something greater than can be achieved alone. Our company is made better when we’re each able to bring our full selves to work each day. We not only invite differences, we welcome them.

#4 GROWTH

We never stop learning

We are continually learning and striving to be better than we were yesterday in all aspects of our lives. We recognize that there is always an opportunity for growth — and we put in the work required to grow & learn. Through continued learning we never stop improving our product, our processes, and ourselves.

#5 ACTION

We always solve the problem.

We default to action & recognize that it is better to do something than it is to wait or do nothing. Because we own our work, we are responsible for the outcome & its impact. We don’t dwell on problems for too long, and instead work towards solutions — always.

Meet Our Amazing Team

Our team is comprised of people that have experiences in or live across the globe, including parts of the United States — Missouri, Florida, Michigan, New York, and Utah—  to various places overseas — Ukraine, India, the Netherlands, the UK, and Brazil.

This diverse set of experiences gives us a unique advantage for helping us create an amazing product and organization. So while we are a remote team, we do have a home base proudly located in the midwest in St. Louis, and we all have one thing in common: a belief that the future is no-code.

I view no-code as a core set of skills for the future — just as common as people making slide decks or putting together spreadsheets — so it's a little surreal to be a part of creating that new skillset.
